Its all set, the dream of vijayawada citizens is going to come true, the much awaited Passport Seva Kendra is going to open its services from tomorrow located at Hotel Mid City premises, near Radio station on Mahatma Gandhi Road.
The Ministry of External Affairs has entered into a MoU with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which will be the service provider, on PPP model to establish 77 PSKs across the country out of which 22 have already been set up and nine passports have been issued.
vijayawada PSK will have 25 counters and passport applicants can log on to the website www.passportindia.gov.in and fill in the application forms online and they can make the payments through cash or credit cards at the PSKs. Applicants can henceforth get their passports within 1-3 days under Tatkal category and 7-30 days under the Normal category as compared to 7 to 14 days and 30 to 45 days respectively under the existing system.
Besides photographing and finger print reading of applicants, the documents submitted by them will be scanned and uploaded in the e-file and after verification they will be sent for police verification which will save a lot of time in the processing of applications. From vijayawada, Officials hope to process 700 applications from and scale it 2,200 applications per day within three weeks.
Till now, Hyderabad Regional Passport office till yesterday issued 4.33 lakh passports this year, there are huge requests for the passport issueing, by the opening of Passport Seva Kendra in vijayawada would decrease the burden on Hyderabad branch and will be helpful to the Krishna, Guntur, East & West Godavari, Prakasam District applicants.
