The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC), in collaboration with the IT giant L&T built the “Gannavaram SEZ” at a cost of Rs 70 crore in Gannavaram.

Two IT industries, Tektracks and Extranet Software Solutions, have already started operation. Two more companies, Indmax and Galla IT Services, have entered an MoU to begin operations in the SEZ.

The total project outlay is Rs 425 crore, will generate employment for about 15,000 IT professionals and indirect employment for 4,500 people. The first phase of the project has been completed with build-up area of about 2 lakh sq ft.

It is a ground-plus-four-storeyed structure with a floor area of 42,000 sq ft and having amenities like food court, fitness centre, business centre, bank ATMs and help desk.

Gannavaram is located in a resource-rich location. Airport is stones throw away from the Special Economic Zone and it has been built adjacent to Chennai-Kolkata National Highway No. 5. Besides, vijayawada is located just 20 km away from the IT-SEZ.

Keeping in view the prospects for the growth of IT Industry in Gannavaram, the vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority is planning to build a convention centre to host conferences.

The district administration allotted 23 acres of land for the convention centre.Information Technology Special Economic Zone (IT-SEZ) built in Gannavaram near the city will be developed into a major IT hub in the coming years as inquiries are pouring in from various industries for starting operations.
